This is my first zero turn. I find it fantastic. Before, it took 2 hours to cut my lawn. Today, I do it in less than an hour with a perfect cut. I am very happy with my zero turn.

Very nice mower and great value

Mower performs very well up to 3 inch grass and cuts golf course smooth. Anything over 3 inches requires second pass to obtain clean cut. Very nicely constructed and looks like is will last for 40 years. Extremely pleased with purchase, delivery and value.

First online lawn equipment purchase

I was in the market for a zero turn mower after mowing my yard with my neighbor's zero turn. I was skeptical, but after doing some research, I decided on the Ariens. It is very well built and sturdy...but a ROUGH ride. My previous lawn tractor was much easier on the rider.
PROS: very well built from quality materials, impressive
Stays amazingly clean after mowing 3/4 acre lot
Cons: no means to wash underbody
ROUGH ride even though it has a mac daddy seat...needs SHOCKS

After about two hours of use, the mower's transmission stopped working and now it is a Fuller's Service (for the past two weeks) waiting to be fixed. I hope it is just something simple like a belt that came off or broke. Fuller's service was not all that happy to do warranty work for a mower they did not sell.

Ariens Ikon X-42

Review Posted 07/20/2016
I cannot tell you how “Happy” it makes me that Direct Mowers emailed me and wanted me to tell you how much I have enjoyed my new Ariens Ikon X-42…. Well let me tell you.
I ordered my Aerins Ikon on June 18, 2016 I received my mower on 7/1/2016. The mower was delivered to my garage where I installed the control handles, installed the foot pedal, and hooked upped the battery. I went in my back yard and mowed for 0.8 hours and then parked the mower. When I went back later, the mower started and would not throttle down. I made sure that all the linkage was moving, which it was, but the governor would not let it throttle down. I went in to call Direct Mowers and guess what? They are closed until July 5th for the holiday. I waited until Tuesday July 5th and I called them and then I waited on the phone for 20 minutes for someone to answer the phone. When the lady finally answered the phone I explained the situation she told me “the throttle control is on the right side”. I said I know where the controls are I am telling you that it is broken and the governor will not let the engine throttle down. She said hang on. I waited another 5 minutes and then she told me that I need to take it to an “Authorized Ariens Dealer” and that I could find one on Mowers Direct website.
I went to Mowers Direct and found a list of Authorized dealers and I called the top one on the lists. It was Gravel Ridge Small Engine in Sherwood, AR the lady said that it would be quicker for me to take the mower to them since it would be several days before they could pick it up. I searched and found a trailer that I could borrow and then I loaded it up and took it 18 miles to the repair shop. Once there I took the paperwork in and the lady there said “we don’t work on any mowers purchased online”! I said it shows that you are authorized dealer/repair for Ariens. She said “we are an authorized repair shop but we don’t have to work on any mower we don’t want to”! I said fine “thank you”, and walked out.
I went 10 more miles to F.L. Davis in Sherwood, AR, another authorized dealer. The mechanic that was there stated that he was leaving for vacation but said he would be back July 11, and he would find out what was wrong with the mower. I went back on July 20, 2016 and the mechanic told me that the Areins Ikon X had a Briggs & Stratton engine and they would not authorize him to work on it. He told me the name of another dealer a few miles down the road that was authorized Briggs & Stratton repair shop. I went to him and told him the situation and he said he would pick up the mower and get back with me.
Over the last 20 days I have been able to use my NEW ARIENS IKON-X42 MOWER exactly 0.8 hours. I have contacted Mowers Direct, Ariens, and Briggs & Stratton, none of them have offered to help or assist in any way in getting my mower fixed. I would never buy another Ariens mower again. I would never buy another mower with a Briggs & Stratton engine again. Finally, I would never, never, never, never buy another lawnmower from Mower’s Direct!
If Mower’s Direct really cared about their customer they would take back this junk they sent me and send me a replacement.
Sincerely,
Benny Mundy

Mower shipped as promised but was missing parts (like the key and steering arms). So it sat in my driveway until I could find a local dealer.

I was a little weary about purchasing something like this online but after reading all the solid reviews I gave it a try. I couldn't be more happy with the service. I received timely emails and phone calls concerning the delivery. I ordered the mower on Wednesday and it showed up the next Monday.
As for the mower itself I don't know how I lived without it for so long. I've mowed 4 times in about 3 weeks. It handles the taller grass with ease and leaves my regular lawn looking awesome. This mower has plenty of power and operates very smoothly. Excellent experience all around.
