The motor showed up in perfect condition and it does exactly what I wanted. I purchased this for my 9’ inflatable dinghy and we use it for our dinghy for boat camping and crabbing.

I purchased the 5 HP Honda outboard motor to back up my main engine because I usually go fishing alone in my boat. I tried it out, and it works perfectly. It starts easily and is very reliable, which makes me not worry about getting home.

I have corresponded with customer service at PED, namely Debbie and Dale. They were both extremely helpful, and very apologetic for the issues that I am having with the new Honda BF5D outboard motor. Dale located a local mechanic for me who recognized the problem and can readily fix it. Now, I just need to get authorization from Honda. Apparently, the carburetor needs an adjustment to compensate for the higher elevation here in Arizona. 🤞I will update the outcome when available.

The motor starts missing when accelerating beyond 60%. It won’t reach full rpm or full speed. So far, every avenue that I’ve perused in getting this resolved has come up short. Very disappointing!!
