Clean Power

Was searching for a PTO generator with clean power and this is it. Very nice unit, packaged very nice and can't wait to use it. We are still setting it up., making a permanent mounting platform that we can grab with our tractor and bring it wherever it's needed on the farm. California wouldn't allow it to be shipped so we had to go to Nevada to pick it up.

After electrician hooked up all the wiring, panel boxes, bypass, etc...We cranked it up and it ran everything with no trouble. Can't say I want a power outage but will be ready to use the Kubota L4701 to power us up.

Good PTO Generator Backed Great Service (IMD Customer Support)

So I own a new Kubota BX2680 tractor and wanted a whole home generator powered from that. I figure the more uses for the tractor justifies the cost. I went into this knowing the tractor is a little underpowered for this generator (26hp engine, 19.5hp PTO), but my requirements fell within the 10-12 kw range. I also knew I’d have to be careful not to overload the tractor too much. As for the IMD generator, it wouldn’t get overloaded since I went with the 16kw AVR model.

I’ve had the generator now for about 7 months and have ran it a few times. The unit works extremely well I have to say. The generator takes anything I have thrown at it so far. I had a professional, electrical contractor in to do the wiring. I highly recommend doing that. They put in a sub panel the feeds off my main panel and moved over about 35 circuits from the main panel to be powered by the PTO generator. There is a special two switches with an interlock that only lets me run generator power or utility power, but not both. When I run on generator, I’m able to runs with almost all circuits on, I just have to choose the high consumption devices. For example, if I’m running the hot water heater, I don’t turn in the range/oven circuit.

I’m able to run my central A/C as well with this generator and the generator keeps up without issue.
At first when the electricians were wiring up for this generator, we had problems with the stove and central A/C not working. Right away they blamed the PTO generator and we called IMD support. IMD was very, very helpful and everyone that answered the phone knew exactly how the generator worked, what it could do and couldn’t do and was able to answer all the electricians questions. At times the IMD support guys knew more than the electricians. In the end it turns out the one electrician miswired both the A/C and the stove (only connected 1 leg of both).

The other issue I had was after about 5 hours of use, the main seal on the generator started leaking a tiny bit, but it was enough where I could see drops of gear oil collect in the cooling fins. After calling IMD, within an hour they determined they weren’t happy with the leak and they dispatched and shipped another, new PTO generator and I had it in a few days. Then I just put the old generator on the pallet and the freight company picked it up.
Based on how the generator performs, the amazing customer service from IMD and the quality of the unit, I’d HIGHLY recommend this unit to anyone.

Oh, and I have have a few HP ProLiant DL580 G7 data center servers running in my house (I’m in IT) and the AVR in the generator handles them with no problem and the servers are happy running this PTO generator.

First let me say that I am knew to tractor ownership and the idea of using it for power generation interested me. I have a new Kubota B3300SU for my small farm here in hurricane country.

First mistake was thinking PTO HP and tractor PTO HP were the same. So now I have a generator that will put out about 13kw vs. the 16kw I thought. It should still be fine for my use. The other thing was that the PTO shaft sold here from IMD has an unknown length. I found out it was able to be cut down to size and did so. I however asked the very nice manager at IMD to maybe provide that info for us newbee's. He said he would.

The other thing was that, the full power receptacle was a 50Amp one and not the 60amp shown on this site. IMD was very apologetic and send me the right receptacle right away. I had to remove and install the new receptacle. 2 small lock washers were missing from the hardware used to install it. So my impression is that IMD is a small company in South Carolina assembling imported (Italian) made components into their own designed device. I would hope that their quality control improves in the future. Other than that I was impressed with their response to my little problems.

Electric Generator Direct did ship it well, but was unresponsive with my phone inquiries as how to remedy these situations. I would suggest calling IMD and discussing your unique situation and skip the middle men.

I am looking to use this 16kw as a whole house generator but want to feed the entire main panel rather than have to use a breaker by breaker conversion. Do you have a simple devise that can enable the genset to be supplying power to the entire master breaker panel?

Will the IMD Pto16-SAVR - 16kw run an electric furnace that uses a 60 amp breaker? The furnace pulls about 45 amps upon start up but then falls and runs about 32 amps continuous. I also have an electric water heater that says it pulls 3600 watts while running. I'm trying to get a tractor drive generator to run my house as well as my water well. At the moment I have a 12kw 3 phase unit I have rewired for 220volts but it is not sufficient enough to even completely start the furnace alone. The heating element will get hot but the fan can't kick in... Thanks for the help.
