Great product

Received trimmed in a timely fashion and in great condition. Started on first pull. So far very reliable. The bump feed feature is a little iffy. I probably need to read more on the feed feature.

Best string trimmer out there!!

I bought my first Kawasaki about 15 years ago and was instantly hooked. They make the best trimmer, edgers and gas pruners on the market. Other than a little maintenance each year ( plug and filters) there is no up keep. Definitely would recommend this to all landscapers out there. Will not buy anything else out there.

I did a lot of reading about trimmers. My initial choice was STHL. My neighbor bought one about six months ago. He really hates the starting on it. He says if you push the primer bulb one or two times more than the required and the engine floods and gets hard to start. I was all set up to get an Echo 225i. I went to my local dealer who used to be in the landscaping business. He sells, Kawasaki, Shindawa and Echo. I asked him neglecting the price of Echo 225i ($259) and Kawasaki KTFR27A ($199) which one would he choose. He said Kawasaki and all his home equipment is Kawasaki. He said both have 5 year warranty. Kawasaki has two rings on the piston and has more power 21.2cc vs 26.3cc. I went with Kawasaki. Bought it yesterday. I have been very happy with it. Lots of power. My old one was an old Craftsman 32cc which was a power house. KTFR27A is almost as good as that. Dealer put it together and put a full tank of gas and ran it for about 2 mins before giving it to me. Well all day yesterday I started it every 2 to 3 hrs after letting it cool down. No priming, first pull every time. This morning tried to start it without priming. Did not start in three pulls. Did the cold start procedure, priming and choke. Started on the 2nd pull. Stopped it after one minute. After that one pull again. My requirements of Power and Easy Start are fully met. Oh yes, very light weight. I was going to put a shoulder harness but not now.

Fast delivery from ST Direct. 2nd Kawasaki product I have purchased, they are both so much better than the
junk at HD and Lowes that there is no comparison. As good or better than Stihl at a better price. (I have Stihl
products also)
Can't go wrong with ST Direct or Kawasaki. BTW, cranked on first pull.

You Get What You Pay For

From day one, this trimmer has been a problem. Engine runs well and started immediately the first time. The string dispensing mechanism is a different story. Even the factory wound provided string refused to dispense properly. Following the directions we've wound in opposite directions, same directions etc. Nothing works and nothing is more irritating than to have the string release properly for 10 minutes then hang up again. The constant stopping and starting to open the dispenser and restart the string is annoying. Today the entire head broke and need's replacing. Of course, no warranty or ability to have it repaired. Guess this is $200+ wasted and we've only owned it for less than 90 days, used its less than 10 times!

Tossed a nearly new Black and Decker in the trash. Thought I was going to have a stroke. I worked on it more than it ever trimmed. Bought this Kawasaki after doing online research. Fast shipping. Great communications. The trimmer was easy to assemble. The line on the spool wasn't that great. Loaded Stihl line after more research. This Kawasaki trimmer coupled with the Stihl line is awesome. FYI soak your trimmer line in water overnight before loading the spool. Makes the line less brittle. Works for me.

Poor Manual
By Hasan

Review Posted 11/27/2012
The string is great, but had to take it to a local shop to finish the assembly. The manual/instructions that come with the product are incredibly useless - I could say this for most things I purchase that require assembly!

Unfortunately, Mowers Direct were not able to help much either, but they did advise me to go to the local shop where someone was able to finish the assembly in 2 seconds. Oh well...

Good trimmer

I bought this Kawasaki trimmer at the recommendation of a neighbor who owns a lawn care business. I previously owned a Ryobi, which died after about 8 years.

The Kawasaki was easy to put together and pretty lightweight. As I use the trimmer mostly for garden bed and curb edging, I'm still getting used to operating it from the side -- on my Ryobi, you could turn the string head around to point downward when edging.

The one thing I don't like so far is the gas tank. The design is such that it looks like you can put more gas in than you actually can. If you're not paying attention, it's easy to overfill and make a mess. Other than that, the trimmer started up the first time and did an excellent job. It also seemed to be a little quieter than my Ryobi.

Wife likes it, too

I cut grass for a living at work and we bought a new Kawasaki grass trimmer. I sometimes run the trimmer 5 to 6 hours a day about two days a week on the average.

I like the trimmer so well because of the light weight and ease of starting that I purchased the KTFR27A for my own personal use, it has cut my work load a lot also because my wife loves the Kawasaki and the easy starting so she runs the one at home most of the time.

Now you just can't beat that for a grass trimmer when your wife takes charge of it.
