Bought this compressor in March 2019. I do regular oil changes in both the motor and compressor. Started it up last week and the motor was surging. When the compressor tank filled up and the motor went to idle it was running low idle for about 5 seconds then shut off. Here’s my issue I’m sure it could be fixed easily but Maxair is not reachable for warranty repairs. The line has been giving a busy signal for a week and emails go unanswered.

Compressor is very impressive with plenty of horsepower and air cfm's. I wasn't impressed with the owners manual and details on hooking up power leads to the starter. It was easy to figure out though with no problems. I had to do a 6" threaded pipe and a plug to extend the oil drain from the engine because it was in a spot where it was impossible to drain without getting oil over everything. The compressor pump already has an extension on the drain so oil changes will be very easy. Very impressed with the quality. Unit was bigger and heavier than I expected which isn't a bad thing.

This compressor runs our soda blaster at 90 psi without issue. However, we had the air supply line break on our first job. The company was great about warranty and getting us a new hose. We figured out that it wasn't put together correctly at the factory, and was likely an anomaly. After the initial hiccups, this compressor works very well.

Haven't used it yet, so can't give a full review. Was expecting to be able to put gas in it and fire it up. But no battery, no brackets or place to put one. No cables. So one more project I don't need.

I'm sorry you were disappointed by not getting a battery with this compressor. The last line on the Features page for this unit says "Battery not included, must be purchased separately".
Most of the truck-mounted air compressors we sell are set up like this because folks want to wire them into their truck's ignition system, eliminating the need for an additional battery. Cables aren't included since everyone's set-up will be different.
This helps keep the price down and lets the buyer customize their set-up to meet their particular needs.
Generators usually operate in an area without power, so a battery is needed for electric-start units. However, there are electric-start generators that ship without a battery to save weight and shipping costs; it varies from unit to unit.

Great Compressor But It's Missing Something!

Air Compressors Direct delivered the unit when I asked for it and I have no complaints with them.
It's a very powerful unit and suits my needs, very high output. However on the website it states the unit is electric start and the battery is not included. They don't tell you that the compressor does not come with the battery cables and a place to actually put a battery. There is no other option on this compressor other than the electric start because it doesn't have a pull cord.
I actually called the manufacturer of the compressor and they basically told me that's the way it is! I was a bit shocked that a $3500 unit would not include the battery cables and a tray to put the battery in it. It's like buying a car without a steering wheel, you need it but it's not included. How strange.
Other than that I am very happy with this compressor. It is probably one of the most powerful truck mounted compressors I have seen available .

Our customers tell us that they wire the starter for the compressor into their truck battery. Each installation will be different depending on the truck involved; the wiring needed is available at any auto parts store.

This is a great compressor so far, I use it to blow out cracks in pavement and run seal coat pumps.
Unit showed up 2 weeks late and one of the air cleaners was smashed. After sending pictures in, I didn't get a response email/phone call...
I called them and they said they would look into it and then the girl just hung up on me while I was asking her about getting a tracking number for the replacement parts. I would recommend buying this compressor from a big box store.
