Great Addition To Mitsubishi System
By Rob M
Wisconsin
Purchased 10/16/2023 |
Review Posted 10/23/2023
We recently installed a 3-head Mitsubishi mini-split heat pump system. I got these sensors to do two things: track indoor relative humidity to determine when to run the dehumidify mode and to get an accurate room temp away from the wall unit to better control comfort. These sensors are very easy to install with the Kumo Cloud app on my iPhone though you may have to wait for the phone to connect to the sensor so you can associate it with the wall unit. A useful hack: if the sensor times out of airing mode, drop the sensor about 4 inches onto a hard surface. You’ll hear three beeps and it’s ready to pair. There are literally no buttons or other controls on the sensor. Just pair to your Kumo Cloud app on the phone, tell it which wall unit to associate and stick the sensor on the wall. Last tip: you may want to experiment with the sensor location. Instead of using the supplied adhesive pad, double up some painters tape to hold in place (or use a removable 3M pad). The Mitsubishi pad will hold so well that it may take the paint with it if you remove it. Overall, good product and easy to install but a little pricey.

They do what they say they will do, sense the temperature and humidity and the ceiling units don’t have to be running to report to Kumo Cloud current status.

I’m not a professional heating and air-conditioning person but these sensors were very easy to install and control the temperature in the room much better than the thermostats inside the splits. I really think that Mitsubishi should include these with all their split units because I did not find that the splits themselves had good thermostat control in the rooms where they were installed. Everything is working right now, and the temperature control is very good. I will probably buy another couple of them for other splits in the house.

A Must For Bigger Rooms
By Bryan G

Review Posted 12/08/2021
So when the weather’s temperature started to drop and we have to run the mini split I noticed that the Kumo app is displaying the temperature that is closer to the unit (intake) but not the temperature of the room itself as entirely. The intent of this device is to measure the temperature and humidity farther from the unit which in my case having big rooms to be more effective. It uses one button battery that said will last for a year and has to be mount on line of sight of the unit.
I wished this device was shipped with the unit or my HVAC contractor offered this. It is easy to add this accessories using the Kumo app. I highly recommend this. I have 6 units and just bought 2 units to test if it really works. I will buy more from eComfort.

Great Little Sensor
By Tim P

Review Posted 11/15/2021
This little sensor is doing a great job so far. I’ve had it for about a month and a half. The one thing that I learned trying to set them up, is not to pull the little plastic tab until right before I’m ready to connect it using the app. If you pull the tab out in advance, then you’ll need reactivate it by dropping it from about 3 inches down onto a table so it makes a chirping sound and then it’s ready to hook up with the system.

We installed a 5 head Mitsu heat pump system for heating and cooling early in the fall. We had trouble regulating the temperature, so we ordered one of these for each head, hoping for the best, and our expectations were exceeded. The temperature in the house is much more consistent now and the units run less. My only complaint would be that these should just ship with the units and not be an add on. Anyone with Mitsu system should invest in these.

No-brainer Addition To A Mini Split

Very handy little sensor. It's a little odd that it has no visible indicator of power (even inside), but I do like the simplicity. Wish it had an option for direct wiring. Overall very happy with it so far a really big improvement over the one in the mini split unit.
