It Is Good To Just Flip A Switch & Start Splitting!
By Guy N.

Purchased 11/15/2018 |
Review Posted 12/18/2018
That is the best feature... Flip a switch and start splitting. No messing with unreliable gas engines. The splitter has done everything I have asked of it so far. On the downside, the motor (or hydraulic pump, I'm not sure which) whines like a banshee and gives me little confidence things will last very long. Maybe this is normal but I work with many electric motors and hydraulic pumps and have never heard one whine like this unless something was wrong. I always use the splitter in the vertical position, mainly because it is obvious that the motor and plastic filler cap for the hydraulic tank would easily be in danger when operating horizontally. I will have to design a shield of some type to protect them. Also, there should be a stop plate that would dislodge any wood in which the ram was stuck as the ram was returned to the fully retracted position. It hasn't happened yet, but I haven't worked it that hard yet. Overall, I am happy with the purchase but hope the motor will last.

Product was well packed and shipped BUT NO USER MANUAL which made assembly complicated. Paint was peeling upon assembly because rust spots were painted over but does not affect use. Had to pay someone to redo ineffective towing hitch. Had to put spacers between oil tank and wheels on the axle in order to tow because otherwise, wheels were rubbing tank. Bracing isn't tall enough to prevent splitter part from wobbling which could have been easily avoided by extra 2" of material.

My First Power Splitter
By Daniel E.

Review Posted 08/23/2018
Although I have used this splitter for only a few hours, I am impressed with its power. It has handled some fairly large 14"-16" diameter pieces, including logs with knots. When it stalls, I pause and activate it again. I wish the splitter had a bit longer stroke to help completely split the more fibrous pieces.
I have one significant complaint--there was no manual, no assembly instructions, and no warranty included. It would also have been helpful to have had information about what gauge extension cord is needed. I settled on a 12-gauge 50' cord which cost twice as much as a 14-gauge.
Caveat: Unless you have the strength of an NFL linebacker, the assembly is definitely a two person job.

A Good Product Except For Electric Motor
By Terry T.

Purchased 05/26/2018 |
Review Posted 06/18/2018
The splitter worked well but after 3-1/2 hours the dedicated 20 amp breaker kept tripping and the splitter would not start. I called customer service and worked with the rep. to isolate the problem which was a failed electric motor. That was June 1, 2018. Three weeks later and I am still waiting on a replacement motor.

We appreciate the time you took to leave some feedback on your recent Ramsplitter purchase and are sorry to hear that the unit has not lived up to your expectations. We are, however, very surprised to hear you mention that this model is lacking power.
Please make certain you are using an appropriate extension cord (12-gauge or better) with a dedicated outlet to guarantee appropriate wattage is being supplied to your splitter. Also, please remember the shorter the cord, the better and to avoid using multiple extension cords at the same time.
If you are using the appropriate cords and power supply, yet think that there may be a manufacturers defect with your splitter, please reach out them directly at (877)-967-1965. They will be able to offer insight over the phone and direct you to the closest service center if necessary. We hope this message finds you well and appreciate your business very much. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

Highest Powered Electric Splitter I Could Find
By Bruce D.

Purchased 01/22/2018 |

It took about a month to ship so I guess it was a "custom" build. I had to have electric as I became tired of keeping internal combustion engines running. Delivery to my house was tough, a semi-truck couldn't get here. Lots of phone calls and an extra charge to get a fixed frame delivery truck. The driver was very helpful.
It came with some minor paint damage but had no structural damage. Assembly was fairly simple, and I managed to complete building it by myself. Works fantastic. 16"L by 16"D wet pine split okay, a little stringy due to wetness. That's the toughest I'll have for it.
Overall, it's great. Saves time, energy, and my back.

This Product Is Well Built For Its Price Point

It was already setup when I bought it, so that was nice. It did, however, had several leaks once it went into operation including one impossible Allen head screw behind the cylinder. Once the leaks were repaired, it has worked fine.
If I could suggest one thing, it would be a sturdy metal guard to protect the motor and shaft. It’s easy for logs to fall in that area and the motor is the one thing I’d prefer to keep safe.

This is a very cheap log splitter. The ram shaft bowed after using it a few weeks and I didn't misuse the equipment! How can this be fixed? Talk about a hassle.
