Works Well, But Poor Durability

I have owned 4 of these pumps now- that speaks to both it's strengths and weakness. The pumps specifications are perfect for my application. This includes the physical size, the power draw and pumping capacity. When it works, it works great. But they fail unpredictably. The first after 6 years, a second one after 3 years. I still have one that is running after 9 years. I run them as a pair, with one as a primary and the other as a backup. So when they fail, it's not an emergency, but having to drop a couple of hundred dollars to replace it kind of sucks. They have a three year warranty, but that's been no help to me. If this last one doesn't make it well over 3 years, I am definitely switching to a new make/model.

BA-33 Non-Auto sump pump

I installed one of these pumps a few years ago and its been working fine. We have a high water table and the pump runs year round. I purchased this latest pump as a backup incase the current pump were to fail. I installed the pump with a LevelGuard electronic pump switch and everthing has been working fine for more than 3 years.

An excellent sump pump — I like it much better than the major brand pumps I churned through at my last home. It’s quiet and has plenty of capacity for my house. I have two of these pumps the I configured in a duplex system with the Ion Genesis controller. The pumps are small enough that both easily fit into my sump pit. I did not install battery backup because there is a whole-house generator. So both pumps are set as primary, but the Genesis controller alternates which one activates. In an emergency, both pumps will activate. Thankfully that hasn’t happened.

This system replaced a 3/4HP pump from HomeD that repeatedly loudly cycled. With switches and controller from SPD, the new system is much quieter and more robust.

Great Pump Fair Price

I used 2 of these pumps with a couple of Pro-Series DFC2 switches and a Hi Water Alarm all connected and powered thru a SUMPRO Inverter. The pump empties my Sump Well faster than my former Zoeller Pump and draws a heck of alot less AMPs. I wired the Dry Contact output of the switches to a 9volt water detector to sound the alarm upstairs if something goes wrong.

What caught my eye on this pump was relatively high pumping capacity and low AMP draw. I can run both pumps on a single 15AMP circuit.

I just installed a new iON Storm Pro sump pump. The one I had was still working fine, however, it was about 10 yrs old and I wanted the peace of mind that my system would not fail because it was getting old. This is my 3rd purchase of a Storm Pro pump from SumpPumpsDirect. I always have 2 pumps in my system due to the volume of water I have to move. We live in an area with a high water table and one pump will cycle 100"s of times per day, 365 days a year.

The second pump serves as a backup to the 1st one in case of a failure, or if a heavy rain event requires both to run, which has been often for the last couple of years! The Storm Pro pumps are small enough that I can easily fit 2 pumps in my sump pump basin. Yet, they are rated with enough volume to move high quantities of water. Best pump I've found in the 15 years we have lived in this house!

Replacement

Jury’s still out for me. I replaced my 3/4 hp ion pump with a pair of these 1/3 hp pumps conjoined into my single 1.5 inch effluent pipe. (Ion sells this set up pre-made too, but with older style sensors). Haven’t had rain water come into the system so far but tests were good. Used two inline check valves from Zoeller which have small air vents built in as an added precaution. That arrangement should also reduce blowback from the active through the dormant pipe when the system is active.

I was initially worried that a 1/3 hp pump might not handle all of the incoming water I’ve experienced, but my rate calculations suggests the 3/4 unit was a little overkill to begin with. Besides, with the new ion controller both pumps will operate simultaneously in the event of water overwhelming a single pump. Fingers crossed!

I have a battery back up pump in my pit so I did not have a lot of room for my primary pump. So a 1/3 was what I was looking for I wanted a pump that was powerful and if I lost power for a long time I could use a generator and power my frigid and pump. Not gest my pump like the big green one, 25 amp to start it not cool and only lasted me 3 years. This pump seem to be twice as strong as the green one with the same hp and it is very quiet. So far very happy, paid a little more but worth it to keep my basement dry.

The product performed as advertised. I have used many pumps over the last 20 years and I like this pump best of all. It performs great with a high low switch and best of all it is easy to install. The documentation is wonderful. It works well with my backup pump.

A Dependable Pump

This is the second Storm Pro for me the first is old and still works fine, however I replaced it with another new one as a backup. I chose Storm Pro because of the small foot print as I have two pumps in the sump pit. The first pump mentioned has been through the mill, I live in an area with a high water table and at times, after a heavy rain I will disconnect the switch and the pump will run 24/7 and may do this for a week or so until the water slows down. This pump never failed. I hope this review helped you.

So Good, I Bought Second One As A Backup

About 4 years ago, I bought the same exact pump. It's been running great. But, had read that pumps run for 5-10+ years depending on usage. So decided to get exact same pump as a backup, so if I have to replace pump, on a Sunday, at 3:30am, I have an immediate replacement. Plus being exact same pump, switching pipes etc will be easy. Everything will line up.

Pump runs great.

I would like to buy the storm pro 1/3 hp pump but would like level switch to control over a longer span (deep pit with higher flow rates at times) want to minimize cycles. Is there a different longer switch rod that can replace the stock version.
